Ok so I may be a bit biased...

But I am in love with my good friend Kelsie's blog. I've known her a few years now, and she's got such a unique and intriguing personality. She's sort of an anachronism, in the sense that part of her seems like she belongs to another time. But to add more complexity to her personality, I'm not sure what time she'd be best in! She's one of those people who makes you feel nostalgic for lemonade stands and your 6th grade carnival, but at the same time can get you so excited for the wonders of the future. She describes herself like this, "i like cherry chapstick. i really like forget-me-nots. and i really, really like penny candies. i still read judy b jones. i don't want to grow up."* Neither do I Kels, neither do I.

She's effervescent and imaginative and just so endearing--I dare you not to love her! And of course, the reason I'm telling you all of this is because her personality comes out in her blog, you've just got to read it! Just take a glimpse into her life and you'll want to be her best friend. She's just one of those girls. Check her out at http://thoughtsfromthegirlnextdoor.blogspot.com/

Here's part of one of her recent posts where she quotes e.e Cummings:

"so, ee cummings, you know that everything you have to say always makes me happy:
and today wouldn't be today without reading (and sharing) this.

who knows if the moon's
a balloon,coming out of a keen city
in the sky--filled with pretty people?
(and if you and i should

get into it,if they
should take me and take you into their balloon,
why then
we'd go up higher with all the pretty people

than houses and steeples and clouds:
go sailing
away and away sailing into a keen
city which nobody's ever visited,where

always
it's
Spring) and everyone's
in love and flowers pick themselves.

--this poem just feels like spring."**

Well Kels, I added a slide show of spring so everybody can enjoy the new season with you!

Oh for the love of sewing.

This week I thought I'd go a completely different direction and feature a sewing blog run by a very precocious seamstress. But this seamstress has another trait that really sets her apart.

She's selfish.

Now I'm not trying to pick on our honoree, but she says it herself. The self-proclaimed Selfish Seamstress has been sewing for herself since fall of 2009. This is how the sassy sewer describes herself, "The Selfish Seamstress loves to design and sew garments, but only if she gets to keep them. I’m Elaine, known in the online sewing world as elainemay, and welcome to my selfish sewing blog."*

In addition to this proclamation of selfishness, the Selfish Seamstress posts haiku poems such as:

"It hurts me to think
Of wasting precious fabric
On your sorry ass."**

Lovely, isn't it?

And in case you forgot that she's selfish, the Selfish Seamstress organizes her posts under categories like "Navel Gazing" and "My Important Opinions."

But I am not so easily fooled. For someone so allegedly selfish, the Selfish Seamstress dedicates a lot of time helping others. Most recently, she has begun using her sewing fame to collect sewing materials for a fellow sewer whose belongings were destroyed in the Haiti earthquake. You can help Arielle by reading the post here http://selfishseamstress.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/wishes-for-arielle/. Just look at this face, it's hard not to help someone so cute, right?

So go give the Selfish Seamstress a chance. She's hilarious, talented (i just drool over her clothes!) and secretly sweet. Plus, her profile picture is this:

What's not to love?

And the first blog to be honored by her majesty is....

Fat Cyclist! I wasn't planning on making this jovial jock my first honoree, but I had the pleasure of meeting him this week and couldn't help myself. His life is one incredible story. So once upon a time, the Fat Cyclist was cycling when he realized his weight had gotten out of control. The man's knees were hitting his belly with every peddle, which is not only painful but quite unhealthy. This realization motivated him to change his life. In his own words, "I had known I needed to lose weight, but hadn’t really done much about it. As I pushed my bike up the road, I realized I had not tried one very successful diet tactic: humiliation."*

What followed is a blog of self-mockery and raw humanity. Fat Cyclist, or "Fatty" as he calls himself, not only opened up about his struggle with his weight, but with struggles in his life. Readers, initially charmed with his witty stories, have come to find that Fatty is more than a chubby biker. He's a widower and father, as well as a friend to hundreds of readers. As he puts it, "So while I still write lots of the jokey stuff I always have, I’m now inclined to also write the occasional serious post, keeping my family and friends (including the hundreds of friends I’ve made on this blog, but have never met in person) up to date with how how I’m doing."**

As you can see, he's a down to earth, relatable human being, who just happens to be hilarious. But all jokes aside, it's his sincere, honest tone that has readers crazy for Fat Cyclist.

So go check him out yourself! http://www.fatcyclist.com/ I've also searched for him on my youtube feature and some great stuff came up, so begin searching! And if you can't get enough of cycling blogs, take a look at these other blogs:

What this blog is all about

So I know that a blog about blogs sounds incredibly boring. I mean why read a blog about other blogs? What a waste of the blogosphere, right?

Wrong. Take a minute to think about your current blogs. How many times have you been bored by your regular blogs, or wished somebody somewhere would post something interesting? How great would it be if one blog could open your eyes to your new favorite blogs? Wouldn't that be convenient?

Well wish no more, ladies and gentlemen! That's what this blog is for! I hope to provide readers everywhere with information on fresh new blogs. It'll be like a buffet of blogs, so you can stop reading the same old schticks and actually read something surprising. You wouldn't eat the same old thing everyday, would you? Well why not nourish your mind with some variety? There will be funny blogs, inspirational blogs, niche blogs, and blogs so out there you can't believe they exist! So get excited, this blog might change your reading habits forever!

Post edit**And I should mention that if anybody has a blog that they feel deserves to be highlighted, please just write me about it! I'm pretty good at finding the latest and greatest, but even I can use a little help!
